Hey guys!

Mr. Todd Simpson introduced me to the 11 rack and I ended up buying one brand new with the expansion pack and without Pro Tools for $320.

A great deal, and I love it! However, I am trying to invest in something to beef up the sound, make it a little more natural - and so far I have read about two recommendations:

1.) Running a Torpedo Cab into the fx loop:

http://www.amazon.com/Two-Notes-Torpedo-Sp...r/dp/B00B1RJ142

2.) Using ReCabinet or some other VST (I can get ReCabinent 3 for about $50)

From what I have read, the Torpedo Cab does a great job bringing some extra life to the 11 Rack but it also comes with a $550 price tag.

The problem with using a VST is that in order to use it, I would have to be hooked up to my computer - I couldn't just use it standalone with the 11 Rack. Also, I'm not sure if it is possible to run the amp simulation in real time in my DAW - the only way I know how to do it would be to record something and then listen to the playback - I'm not sure how to do it in real time, if that makes any sense.

Do you guys have any opinions on this, or know of something else?

Thanks!

Glad you are digging your 11! You got a great deal on it! smile.gif

The good news is that you can do what you are wanting to do, (I believe) just using the 11R EDITOR. smile.gif

So, have you downloaded the 11R editor yet and started using it? Each of the Guitar Cabinets has a very realistic IR built in smile.gif One "Secret Sauce" trick!! Try using the 8x10 Bass cabinet with your guitar setups!! IT makes the rig sound HUGE!!!

Here is an example!

Thanks Todd!

I downloaded the editor when I asked you about how to install new patches but for some reason it is giving me a hard time during the install dry.gif

Says you have to install some addition components but the the first one fails to install and the second one freezes right after - I have to look into what the issue might be rolleyes.gif

That's VERY strange and I'm sorry to hear it? Are you on MAC or PC? Try downloading the editor again. First update your system windows/mac update just to get things up to snufff on the back end then download the editor again.

The Editor is the SECRET SAUCE of making this thing work. The endless front panel menus make it very NOT FUN for me to edit patches. The editor is elegant drag and drop and runs while you are using the unit. It's just awesome.

The torpedo cab pedal and the vst uses the same software, and I liked the software much more than recabinet (plus its way more affordable as you only have to buy 1 or more cab. ir to get rid of the demo mode).

I use my amp in a similar way; guitar-amp-from amp send to soundcard-vst (fx and cab. ir). Works good but overall seems the goal is to atleast make 1 part of the chain analog if possible.

Todd mentioned a few times on using analog pedals (usually tubescramer), which to me makes much sense as its affordable too. If not the amp (as the eleven rack is used for that), then cab. poweramps coloration is an option (like in recabinet or torpedo you mentioned) but thats a bit harder to implement specially if you want a portable system.

Were you able to use the software editor so you can tweak your guitar cabs on the 11 Rack?

Nope dry.gif

I downloaded the newest update/patch which didn't do anything so I re downloaded the installer but same issue - the first component fails to install (the one Microsoft C++ one).

Microsoft said it was nothing on their end , haven't shot an email over to Avid yet

Wanted to follow up on this, have you figured out why the software editor is not working? It's really key to tweaking the ELEVEN rack? have you updated your windows installation lately? Which version are you running btw?
