Lets say someone handed you the following piece of music (just an example).
There's a choir, piano, organ, bass guitar, drums, elec. and acous. guitars. You're playing either of the guitars.
What would you play? I really get stuck on stuff like this. It's frustrating.
You could play chord accompaniment that is indicated above the staff? Other guitar could play the melody or some fillins...
That's what I usually do. It usually ends up sounding so blah.
You can play chord changes as Bogdan suggested. I suggest you analyze guitar and keyboard parts along with bass and drums.
Drums will give you specific kicks which you can use in your rhythm playing. Bass can give you hints regarding inversions of chords, and finally guitar and piano parts can teach you specific voicings used over specific chord.
Hope that helps !
It's in the key of Ab major. You can play both treble keys with guitar, play chords with down treble key, or lead with up treble key.
