Just wondering if any of you guys experience this with your tube amps. I always let my tubes warm-up on standby for a couple of minutes before playing.

However, I swear my amp sounds a bit warmer and the gain smooths out slightly after playing for 15 minutes or so. Just wondering if anybody else senses this with their amps. It's not a huge change but I swear it's not just me. wink.gif

I don't notice any change in either of my tube amps but I've heard something about that it takes the tubes like 30 minutes or so to reach their peak.

So you should probably trust your good ears wink.gif

Yeah, MickeM is right, tubes need 10-30 minutes to reach working temperatures, depending of the amp. Possibly your amp is reaching a working temperature within 15 mins, so you hear slightly smoother sound because of this.

I didn't think anything was wrong just was curious. I figured it was the tubes getting a bit hotter but was curious if anyone else could actually hear or feel the difference.

On my TSL601 on low volume there isn't much difference, but when cranked the sound is a bit more smoother as the tubes warm up.

I guess it depends from amp to amp how much the difference is audible...There is standard 15 min warm up time for tube amps when they reach optimum working performance.
