Ok, i could go and get one for $800 tomorrow, either that or a krank distortus maximus for $340. I'm pretty much looking for a kickass distortion tone. Which should i get? and also how good is the pod xt live for recording? Does it go Guitar>pod>Computer (through usb)? thanks

It's pretty good for recording purposes, but not too good for playing in a studio or live. If you need it only for home - buy it. If don't - buy a pedal.
Also a pedal has a great distortion sound in comparison to PODxt, so choose whatever you need for your purposes. These are 2 quite different product in price, quality, specifications... wink.gif
