Hey Muris,

I've heard loads of these in songs where a guitarist would play a note, then without touching the strings (i cant see it anyway) that note gratually turns into a harmonic...is it a special technique or is it just amp feedback?

thanks in advance

Sorry for answering first but I think what you mean is a hamonic produced by hammering onto the fretboard without picking the string. I actually don't know how and where to hammer to achieve this harmonic but I always wanted to learn this trick because you have your picking hand free to use the whammy bar while doing a harmonic

I believe it's matter of heavy gain feedback(amp feedback) smile.gif

Perhaps something like Satch is doing on many intros Live?

yeah, something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2AJgAURuTg

so it's just feedback, no special techniques involved?

Well you gave me bit wrong example cause in here there IS extra stuff,
small switch that Steve uses to apply sustainer to his tone.
Perhaps Flying In a Blue Dream by Satch?
Check out some live versions and you'll see that he
doesn't use efxs like Steve for that,
he only rotate himself a bit around to get different "pitch" of feedback, that's all. smile.gif

damn i cant find a real good example lol...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAY3WeZovGk

something like this at 1:28 where it was turning into a harmonic but he stopped it before it could fully turn into a harmonic.

or in Michael Angelo Batio's song "Rain Forest" album version from No Boundaries
at 1:46

Anyhow,I'm sure we understand each other very well,
it's just regular feedback,no extra techniques needed,
just proper tone(gain and EQ),some power from amp/cabinet and there you go. smile.gif
