My friends and I are huge horror fans, so we watch all types of films. The most disturbing film I ever saw was Imprint...it's a Japanese film I think. It was insane.

Also "The Girl Next Door" - not that teen flick that came out a few years ago...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0830558/

I've heard Salo is INSANE...My friend has a reallly old copy on VHS, I'm kinda scared to watch it. hahha

Oldboy. It's pretty visceral and gritty. There is some gore (mostly just violence), but what is disturbing is the extent of which a human is possible of hate. Basically a brief synopsis is a man is abducted for 15 years and has absolutely no idea why. his captor leaves him in a concrete cell that's decked out like a motel, complete w/ TV, etc. One day he wakes up and he is released. He then goes on a warpath vowing revenge to his captor, who readily announces himself but says that if you kill him, you'll never know why he took 15 years of his life from him. So then the quest to find out "why" goes on. Really cool movie. It's originally in Korean, the overdub isn't horrible. This flick was a favorite of the VT shooter here in the states. It's apparently being adapted to english. This is worth a purchase, you can watch it a couple times. Decent fight scenes too, 1 man vs. about 30 in a hallway with a run of the mill 18 oz hammer. Artfully done. Very good film.

Event Horizon - I saw this movie when I was 13 and it scared the stew out of me. This is probably my favorite horror movie. It blends jump scenes, with gore and tension in just the right proportions to leave you worn out. It's not like Saw/Hostel who just unnerves you with anticipation and gore or these other horror flicks that are just jump scenes.

Killer Clowns from Outer Space - meant to be a comedy, I saw it when I was probably 8 or 9. It scared the hell out of me. It was the first time that I realized that something that's typically positive could be horrendously negative. Honestly haven't seen it since, but that's more because it doesn't come on TV anymore.

I've been wanting to see Oldboy for like a year ot two now. I've first heard about it on the good ol' days of Attack Of The Show when they did a "Must Buy DVD" day or something.

This movie is so incredibly bad that it is thoroughly entertaining...The Story of Riki-Oh.
It is a martial arts movie from China, made in the 80's, and features the worst gore scenes [rubber and sauce] I have ever seen. If you can find it watch with the English dubbing; incredible.
Example; Riki is in jail and a tough guy, Oscar, is fighting him. When he looks like losing [after Riki slaps his eye out and its instantly eaten by vultures] Oscar cuts his own stomach open, pulls out his entrails and tries to choke Riki with them by strangulation.
YouTube has some scenes.

Must include 'The Sound of Music' here...the scene where Maria makes the children clothes from lime green floral curtains so they can go to the town had me in therapy for 5 years. I still wake up screaming.

Seriously thought about this post and have to say that the scene in Communion where Christopher Walkin wakes up, goes downstairs and sits in the chair in his country home in the near dark. He senses something there in the room with him. He sees something hiding behind the wardrobe and says 'Is someone there? Who is there?' Then an alien just peeks around the wardrobe with his black soulless eye. The rest of the movie was pretty lame but that scene freaked me out.
The other creepy movie scene was in Signs when the television station showed amateur video footage taken at a child's birthday party. All the kids were screaming and looking out of the window when the alien walks out of the bushes. I needed a change of pants after that. What is it with these aliens?

A few... Have to agree with Audition, Salo and Requiem for a Dream.

Other than that...

- Funny Games (the original Austrian version - haven't seen the recent American shot-by-shot remake, also by Haneke)

- Irrevérsible

- Ai no korrida, in some capacity
