How important do you feel it is to jam with other guitar players? Unfortunately I don't have other players to jam with for the most part. A couple people at my work play, but we don't have the oppertunity while working to play obviously. Therefore I wanted to see what GMC thought about this topic and if it would be worth my while to find some other people and set something up. Currently the only other player I know that I see is my guitar teacher, but that is for 30 minutes every week or so.

I think its important to play with others, you can bounce ideas around, learn things from them, teach them things too, but ultimatly if you can gel with that person musically you`ll have great fun smile.gif
Keeps you motivated further

My roommate is a synth/Cubase player. It's always fun to work with him, but I generally only put down a very simple part. I'm basically an analog player in his whole setup.

What I'd like to do is get together with another guitar player who was better than me and jam out. When I'm with my guitar teacher, it's mostly him giving me a pointer or two and a lesson plan.

I think if I could find someone to jam with I'd just stick to GMC only and save myself 20 bucks a lesson. = /

I find jamming with any musician mostly helpful and more importantly fun, try jamming with you'r synth playing buddy, I think you can only benefit from it!

You can also add me on msn messanger(pm me if you want it) and jam with me! I'm allready jamming sometimes with some members on the site, and it's great smile.gif

Have you tried Ninja Jam software?
Perhaps you could invite few GMC members to jam along. wink.gif

What's Ninja Jam? How would I go about using it and what would I need in the way of PC hardware - just a decent sound card?

When I jam with my friend I usually just lay down a simple guitar part then theres like 10 minutes of him working his magic with effects and filters etc. It's cool don't get me wrong, but I'm not really "jamming" per se. It's more like being in a studio. smile.gif

Not only to jam with guitar players but musicians of any cool instrument - harmonica, frums, bass, guitar, vocalist
Anything really. That gives you an understanding of music and how to interact with others. And jamming with different musicians is always a different experience, never the same.
