Hi dudes! cool.gif

Ok so I started the fantastic Paul Gilbert Lesson one and there are some harmonics in, something which I havent practice for a while. On my old les paul I could pull these off very easy anywhere on the fretboard just by adding some thumb into a down stroke. On my Cort axe which is now my primary guitar when i do AH on the base strings they sound as they should, but on the 3 lighter strings im finding it very hard to get the right sound - it just sounds tinny basically huh.gif

Do you guys and gals think this could be related to my hardware or is it just me? laugh.gif

thanks ! wink.gif

Well I don't think its the hardware..You just have to experiment a little because every guitar is a little different . I'm sure you just need a little more control and practice on the lower strings (because they are thinner) to get that AH that you are looking for..I sure you'll find the "sweet spot(way)" for doing it on that particular guitar...

on most of my guitars the 3 bass strings have their sweet spot a little closer to the neck than the 3 high strings. Might try picking a little closer to the bridge? Also, higher output pickups might help the situation.

Thanks ill try that! I noticed the bass strings are fairly easy to hit the "sweet spot" hitting near the neck also smile.gif

You just didn't use to play it on you new axe thats all. Practice some more. But yes it is true that on some guitars it is easier to get better artificial harmonic sounds. Experiment and practice and you'll get the sound you want for sure.

Well then you have to find right spot,it's around my middle pickup if that can help.
Having tons of gain and high EQs isn't bad idea as well. smile.gif

Thanks so much Ivan and Muris - I will try all these advices out biggrin.gif I must say its really nice to play a peace like this because I can combine all my hard practiced techniques like alt picking and sweeping, with harmonics and riffing too! wink.gif
