Ok,
I'm not a gamer really, used to play a lot of PC games but not for a while. I am thinking of getting a PS3 to play a few games but also as a Blu Ray player and media center. One thing puzzles me though - what is the use of the disk drive on the PS3? I won't use it for media as I have all that on other servers, and leaving media aside, what would you use it for - game saves? I would think 80G would be unbelievable overkill for that so I am puzzled. Why do you need it? Is it worth paying an extra $100 to go from 40 to 80, if so why? -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

I think that you can install an operating system like linux on ps3..Also some games have downloadable content (Guitar Hero 3)...I think that extra space on HD will come in handy in the future..

Good point - installing Linux might well be something to try - I might een use it for MythTV at some stage. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Well I have 40gb Ps3 and it has a fully functional wireless and 2x usb (60gb version has 4x usb + memory card reader) inputs just to get the facts straight...
As far as the outputs go you have everything you need: Digital OUT, AV MULTI OUT for tv or just for audio if you use monitor & HDMI out so you can even plug it in to your monitor if it supports HDMI. But yes 60 gb version supports PS2 titles and 40g does not! As far as the disc goes its needed as it was written in previous posts for savegames, extra content, game updates, downloadable content and some games even need to install on it ... but it is a standard disk as far as I understand and any HDD for notebooks fits in it... so you can just buy another disk if needed... -------------------- http://www.myspace.com/jjt5150
