What Amp Should I Get?

What's up!!!
I'm pretty excited I'm getting a new amp in a few months which is a while, but i was wondering what kind i should get.

I play metal, not incredibly hardcore, about as hard as metallica(that doesn't mean we sound alot like them although i've heard do a little, i've also heard we sound kind of like tool) in most songs. I want an amp with at least 50 watts
and it should probly cost around $500-600.

I don't necessarily want anything too versatile, but something with a true metal sound with really good distortion.
It could be any type of amp but i don't have any head amps so don't suggest a stack or cabinet without a head for it.

If i'm asking to much for a $500-600 budget tell me although i don't believe i asked for much.

I was going to get a line 6 spider 3, but i heard it's great at first but ends up being a rip. If this is wrong tell me, although
i still don't think i'll be getting one.

If you stretch another 100$ you could get a Spider Valve 112 which I hear is great for metal - many members of this forum seem to think so anyway! 40w output, but its a tube, so its going to be much louder than any solid state!

I'm no amp guru but this seems like a good route to investigate over a normal spider. smile.gif

Well, fro that money, I don't know, maybe a RG75DG3. It's a hybrid amp, and it's realatively cheap. It has a great clean and a good sounding versatile distortion. You must try it, and then if you like it... wink.gif

Owen has a point,Spider Valve might be an amp for you.
You can store presets, has quite heavy dist and it's tube at the end.
Of course it a bit above your budget but think twice,
better save few more bucks and buy decent unit instead of
buying something cheaper and not being happy with it...

Actually, I read an article on that not long ago on UG. It got great reviews, and is a good possibility, however please, more suggestions, i don't want one amp to pick from and try out.

Have you thought of some modeler AND an amp(solidstate)?
Cause if you wanna straight and powerful dist from an amp
then you have to pay more I guess...

Ibanez has a new modeleing amp out called MIMX, appearantly tweaked towards metal.

With the budget of tops $600 I'd take my chanses on eBay for something really good instead of new and not really up to it.
