Trilogy through the Ampeg bass-amp modeling vst is a sure way to get a kickass bass-sound.
You dont really need a keyboard to use vst-instruments either.. i plot in every tone with the mouse in Cubase.

The best bass software is to my opinion Spectrasonic Trilogy.
Very good samples.
But the soft is quite expensive.
You can check it out here. :-)

I totally agree, this is the best software there is smile.gif

i dont knwo if htis has been mentioned yet but in amplitube 2, the guitar to base is under styles>FX>GTRtoBase. IT's good but not perfect. i'm looking into getting a real base as amplitube 2 works in most cases but not all.

There are two great pluging that comes with Waves bundle...RBass and Max Bass.....I always use them so my bass guitar sounds more "in face"and the color is much warmer....no matter what bass sample I use.....

I really like Broomstick Bass. It has lots of different basses and styles to choose from, and you don´t need a keyboard to use it. If you do have one, or if you have virtual keyboard in you recording software (or can draw midi) it is one of the best collections of software basses I know. Not to expensive either.

If you really just want the basics, you can download the demo which has 2 basses and 20 styles, and with no time limit!

Check it out, it´s really good!

I don't have a keyboard or virtual keyboard, can I still use it somehow?

I'm still thinking about getting a real base though. A cheap one though, maybe a Squier, but I don't know if it will be any good. I don't need anything fancy, just a bass that stays in tune and allows me to record some simple bass backings would be enough.

Besides: can I use a guitar amp with a bass? I suspect I can't given thefact that there are bass amps!, but it's something I wonder anyway...
