Amazing personality and great player. His lead style has such fluid and quick legato, I'd love to see a lesson on Dimebag style legato.

Oh man, I love Dime... I don´t remember exactly when but I think I listened Pantera since I was 12. I´m sure that this man was and incredible person and, of course, a great guitar player (one of the bests).
I confess you that the day Dime´s die I get really anger ´couse he didn´t die becouse drugs, alcohol or an accident, he died for a stupid person... I don´t belive it yet.

I think it is a shame that he died but it is also a shame that many only got into his music because he had died. If they had liked them before it would have been better. I can't listen to Pantera anymore as I hear them everywhere, everyone has Dean guitars and Dimebag shirts. He was an awesome guitarist, he was a great guy, he should be allowed to RIP for the sake of his family.

I just want you to remember, that many people would of gotten to listening his music eventually even if he hadn't died.
Like me for example, some people get so many recommendations for good bands and artists that they don't have the time/money/ just don't remember to check some of these guys out. And when Dimebag died I'm sure he was in the spotlight and some people thank that, "I've heard of this guy but never checked his music out maybe I should..."

I think it's a shame, because I really should have checked Dimebag a lot earlier cos it turns out I really like this music. Same goes with Jason Becker, just recently I Actually got to watching some video of Jason's altitudes(although I've heard of him so much before) and there it turns out Becker's style is exactly what I love about music.

Also I would find it hard to believe, that some would like some guys music after his death if they would have not liked it when he was alive. Also think it would be wrong to bash some young kid because, he never heard of Dimebag and then Dime dies and the kid gets into his music and likes it, really gets into it. Sounds wrong to me if you belittle the kid just because "He wasn't there". I'm personally really looking forward for getting a Pantera cd.

I'm sorry for opening up so much, this is just my opinion and I think it had to be pointed out. And I don't want to sound like an old lady with flower on my hat, cos in fact I'm the opposite a young man with no hats...
No hard feelings, take care smile.gif

I personally think its great that people are into his music, alive or dead... Do you think he would have wanted people to stop listening to his music after he died?? No, so listen to his music and enjoy it, thats what he would have wanted, im sure of it...

I never got to listen to Hendrix when he was alive, but ill still listen to his music...

Pantera had fans before he died but now everybody seems to love them. A lot of people say they like them just to seem cool and a lot of people feel they have to like the stuff because he was dead. I was gutted when he died. We were playing a gig the same night and I found out when I got home early in the morning that he had died sad.gif I had all the albums before his death and really enjoyed them.

Sure his death affected some of us more than others, But I dont think listening to him before or after he dies affects how much a person likes him, As long as there experiencing the same good ol music, who cares right?

I'm mainly annoyed at Dean to be honest but there ya go. I love Pantera. I will never listen to them again but I have reasons for that. We still cover Hollow from time to time which is good fun. I just get annoyed with people saying Pantera this, Pantera that. It just didn't happen when he was alive.

I remember a year, year and a half ago, I heard cowboys from hell. I was like, "Wow this is an awesome song, I need to hear more from this band." I started listening to some of their songs on Youtube and other places, and was really starting to get into them...then I was reading about them, and saw that their guitarist had been shot like six months before I started listening to them! mellow.gif Really blows. I just wish that I had started listening to Dimebag earlier. sad.gif
