I know that they're not straight sweeping, but Hanger 18 and Tornado of Souls by Megadeth both have awesome Sweep and legato solos by Marty Friedman. Anything with just straight sweeping is likely to be incredibly hard shred like Rusty Cooley or something such as that.

Just remembered that some Yngwie isn't too hard. Black Star and Far Beyond the Sun both have awesome melodic sweeps.

Well you say melodic sweeps- you must first construct what you consider a melodic sequence of notes.

Take something as simple as twinkle twinkle little star.

Play it in whatever key you choose- then harmonize the each note into a triad (major minor or diminished)

Then instead of playing each note- you can sweep a triad up and down (im lying in bed right now guitarless but this actually does sound pretty cool lol biggrin.gif)

It really doesnt have to be more complicated than that- then you can use that technique with your own melodies,

or if you want a quick answer i remember hearing a MAB melodic sweeping sequnce that did rip- but i loved the melody and the way he choose which inversion of the arpeggio he'd use to create a downward melodic line- instead of just one shape moved up and down to fit the needs of the root note:

Check this out- it wouldnt let me skip through, but the bit i spoke about starts at 1:25

Hey FretDancer... This is a cool one, try this.

I love this one. Very melodic. Not neo-classic but still cool to get a sweep rhythm practiced. Good key as well.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
