"If you have been practicing for a longer period, and all of a sudden realise how bad you are - you know you are about to reach a new level of skills."

this is exactly what I needed to hear, and looking back over the years, I realized that it is indeed true

every time I practice intensely for a long time, I always end up thinking "pff, this is useless", but then when I get the right influence/motivation and try something I haven't tried before, I realize that I'm at a totally different level of skill than before

thanks Kris!

Yup, that's a great one. I remember seeing that several months ago; thanks for bringing it back up. smile.gif

----- Agree! You got to keep it fun and fresh. This site is the reason I am playing again. So much great stuff here.

Thanks Kris.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Yeah, it may sound a little silly to somebody but, it's just how it is... atleast for me too smile.gif

Anyone can learn to play fast, like anyone can learn to type quickly. But not everyone can write a book.

I agree, what usually happens with me is I start just messing around, jamming and stuff, and then after a while, I start to really focus on learning and practice like crazy. I keep learning more and more until I feel like an amazing player, and then eventually I hit a wall and realize just how much I don't know. Then the process starts all over again. smile.gif

I´m so glad to read this, cause when i was playing yesterday i noticed how bad i am....
I hope i´m really about to reach the next level!
But I also noticed, that i don´t make constant progress. for example when i´m trying to become´s just like all of the sudden i´m able to play a riff which i wasn´t able to play before....weird laugh.gif
