Hey there,

I'm just getting a bit more into creating drum patterns in Reaper with Addictive Drums.
But how can I change the time signtaure ? For example to 12/8 or 3/4 ?

Just right click in the window where you see the bars and beats an choose insert time signature marker. Tick the box that says set time signature and just type in the new time signature you want. I would also recommend checking out the manual since you can easily search in it on doing simple straightforward tasks like this one. You can download the manual from Reapers web site.

Regards, Marcus.

Yes the time signature in the project will not affect the time signature of the beats in Addictive drums. What you have to do is match the time signature of the beat with the time signature of the track. So first, go looking for the beat you want, when you have it check it's time signature and then change the track to match that. Hope this helps.

Does that mean that I cant make that window to a 12/8 or some other time signature ? It would be a lot easier then...

Well yes the midi edit window should change depending on what time signature you choose. I noticed that if I wanted to use a 3/4 beat from AD I had to change the track time signature before dragging the beat in for it to work properly. However, if I now choose to edit that beat, the edit window is in 3/4 time. I can't capture an image for you to show you what it looks like but I basically have the same window you do but in 3/4. I'm not sure how reaper works but it could be that your midi event is 4/4 and that's why it looks the way it does. In that case create a new one in the new time signature

That's my problem, I change the time signature as you told me, but the midi edit window stays in 4/4 sad.gif

Are you running the latest version btw? Could you show me a picture of the track window when you have changed the time signature from the second bar as an example? If nothing else helps, there's always the reinstall but that may be a bit drastical. Ok so I have figured out how to take a screen shot. I'm going to go through the process step by step in images.
So first here's a picture of a part of the track window without any changes made.

Attached Image

First step is to insert the time change marker.

Attached Image

Next step is to type in the time signature you want in the box. You have to check the box that says "Set time signature", otherwise nothing happens.

Attached Image

Your track window should now look something like this. As you can see here, the second and third bar is half as long as the first bar since I changed the time signature to 2/4.

Attached Image

Ok in this image I have added a track and then inserted an empty midi event from the insert menu. As you can see, this event is 2/4 long.

Attached Image

And if I double click the midi event, the midi edit window looks like this. With snap set to 1/8 you can see that there's four per bar.

Attached Image

So that's how I do it, hope this helps you out!

This is totally weird. If nothing else works, try a reinstall of reaper and try it again. It shouldn't make any difference but you never know. It's what I usually do when nothing else works wink.gif.
You made sure you checked the box for changing the time signature and everything? If you can, post a picture that looks like my third picture where I have put in the time signature change and you can both see the bar before and the bars after. I have to see what it looks like on your computer.

Alright I think I know what's "wrong". You've got the display set to minutes:seconds, not measures . beats. Right click in the window and choose either measures . beats or measures . beats (M:S secondary) from the list. Sorry I didn't spot that earlier, I should have seen it. This should do the trick hopefully smile.gif. Here's a picture of me making the choice.
