So I've heard great things about the Shure mic's. Mainly the SM58 and SM57. I'm just wondering which one would be better for micing an electric and acoustic guitar moust of the time and maybe (probably not) some vocals. blink.gif

SM57 my friend. Not the SM58.

The SM57 is for vocals and instruments and we are happy with it and use it lots smile.gif

SM57 is for instruments, and vocals if you don't have anything else.

Pop filter for instruments? No, only for voice in studio, and that is not necessary too.

sm-57 is great for recording instruments, but with loud volume such as guitar amplifiers or loud acoustic instruments, not for acoustic guitars

sm-58 is for live vocals

if you need to record acoustic guitar you need a condenser mic such as pg-81 smile.gif

I agree. The best choice for guitars is the SM 57. I also have the BETA58 and it's great for vocals. Sometimes I use it for guitar and I like the quality too. So I think that the Beta58 or beta57 would be great too because ill work ok for acoustics too.
