Check that link out guys....

I saw an ad for these in Guitar Player - they look really bad ass, apparently you can load scales on the computer and they show up via LED on the fret board.

Seems like an AWESOME tool to have, really make memorization easy...

Anyone ever tried one out?

this would be really usefull to improvise leads and learn scales, but it would look unprofessionnal to have some led showing you where to place your finger tongue.gif

Still looks like a good thing to have. Now I must go change my shorts laugh.gif

My local guitar shop had two of them. VERY COOL! They had every scale, chord etc. you could think of! He really wanted me to buy one...he offered to let me take it home for a few days. I didn't though...I knew I would have to make it my third guitar!

I want to get one, still... but then again, I just want to buy a nice guitar and appreciate that, and continue to learn the way I am doing so currently.

Hi
I have a fretlight guitar and its awsome. Scales, chords, popular songs all play on the software and light up the fretboard.
Chose a scale, light up the board and learn. When you think you have nailed the scale, use the supplied footswitch to turn off the led's.
The only minor problem I have is I have to have the guitar tilted towards my face to see the led's.
Fretlight are about to change the format of one of their main software progs from XP to Vista. Worth knowing if you are thinking of buying a fretlight guitar.
Also I have seen a couple for sale on e-bay
cheers
fretman59.

I'll be the one to poop in the punchbowl. I think it's an interesting idea, but ultimately I think it will slow you down. Looking for the lights adds another layer of computation in your brain which I don't think will help to cement the underlying musical learning. You need to learn the intervals with your hands and your head, and I think the visual process of the lights will ultimately hurt more than help. Playing "live," it would certainly be useless. You couldn't follow the lights fast enough to do any good, unless it is dead slow practice.

Cynic's response: Someone had an idea, and they want to sell it to you. The money could be better spent on a fine guitar and a copy of Fretboard Logic, and you can learn chords from a small pocket size booklet.

Just my opinion. Feel free to shoot me down.
