Warbringer

The opening act, Warbringer, put on one of the best shows of the night! The concert lasted from 7:30 pm - 1:00 am, So even the opening act got to play a lot of good songs. John Kevill, the singer had an incredible stage presence, Everything he asked of the crowd they did, His vocals were spot on. Adam Carrol and John Laux. the guitarists did a fantastic job on nailing all the notes. The awesome trade-offs in every song were perfect, and i had front row seats the entire show, so i saw all the blazing fast fretwork. The drum sounds was incredible, the double bass really beat against your chest, and the whole show was a headbanging frenzy.

Unexpect

The second best show of the night, Unexpect put on a superb show. even though Stefan, the guitarists, Had his POD catch fire a bit before the show and couldn't use it, In the 2 minutes he had to get ready for there show, He dialed in his tone on Warbringer's amps in that short amount of time. Never mind that, the show was great. Even though i was probably the only one in the venue at that time who knew about them, The crowd, if they werent headbanging were looking on in awe at the strange french canadian band, With the only female singer of the night, a bass player with an 8 string bass, a violinist, and all sorts of weird stuff going on. The highlight of there show had to be my favorite song from them, "Desert Urbania", the staccato style song had you headbanging like a madman, and then stopping real quick to take in the soft, and beautiful violin and piano interludes. Never got to see this band before, but i'm glad i did, Next to Nile, this was the best show of the night.

The Faceless

While not really a fan of this band, I have to say they put on a fantastic shows. Since the last time i saw them, they have gotten a new, and better, vocalists, and added a keyboard player which really takes there music to a new level i think. The open up with one of there more famous songs, "Pestilence" and the crowd goes wild, Tearing stuff down and starting the biggest pits yet up to that point. Michael Keene, the guitarist, who's side i was at, did a perfect job at nailing all the complex riffs and solo parts with such ease, the drummer kept the machine gun bass and war horse gallops coming all night long! A Great show overall.

Suicide Silence

While usually even if i dont like a band, like this one, i can usually make an attempt to enjoy there shows, with this i simply couldnt. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, but every song they played was the same riff on the first 3 frets over and over. It was extremely dry and just boring to me, the fact that these guys opened for Nile was, to me at least, a major disgrace. And to top this off, there rather dumb guitarists, thought it would be cool to jump in the crowd with his guitar, fine right? Well not when you jump with your headstock aiming down at the crowd, going stomach first. This stupid (insert curse word of choice) idiot hit me in the throat, and his headstock (which is an ibanez S Series) hit some guy in the head, causing a gash in his head, and knocking him out, Im sure thats what that kid wanted to pay for that night, a hospital visit. Terrible show, and ive gone from disliking them, to just hating them.

N I L E

So it finally comes, Nile's show. They open up with "What Can Be Safely Written", and epic eight minute song of devastating guitars, impossible drums, and epic orchestra's. There sound live was just unreal. It was so beautiful, i even got the pleasure of front row next to Karl Sanders and Dallas Toller-Wade (guitars). They did all the favorites, "Annihilation Of The Wicked", "Lashed To The Slave Stick", "Ithyphallic", "Execration Text", , "Sarcophagus", "The Essential Salts". "Eat Of The Dead", "Sacrifice Unto Sebek", "Cast Down The Heretic", "Black Seeds Of Vengeance", many many more, over 2 hours worth of songs, But the special thing about this show was this. It was the first show on there tour, and they ended with the single most requested Nile song to play live, one of my all time favorites, "Unas, Slayer Of The Gods". The played this song once over 5 years ago, and I got to see the first performance of it since then, And it was just beautiful. I must mention the song "Cast Down The Heretic" once again, if you have heard it then you know how fast it is, and Karl and Dallas nailed it like it was nothing, all the complex riffs, played perfectly, and the massive solo duels that went one for 10 minutes were great, i could only watch in awe as these men displayed perfect control over there instruments. The show continued on for almost 2.5 hours, never letting up. Karl Sanders had a smile on his face the whole time, cheering the crowd on, and screaming for more. This was a beautiful night, There was even a "Bards Song" moment, where the whole crowd started singing the lyrics, and Dallas relinquished his duties as vocalists, as the whole crowd sang for him, It was great. I left the show with a massive smile ear to ear, it gives me chills to look back on it, it was beautiful.

NOTE: Cameras now get you kicked out of this venue, so no pictures! (Plus, i couldnt be bothered to take them anyway!! tongue.gif )

Dude that Nile setlist sounds so badass, and that Suicide Silence crap is so stupid, I hate them now just because you wrote that lol. I can't believe you got to see Unas Slayer of the Gods, that is like my favorite Nile song. What Can Safetly be Written is sweet to, in fact every song on the Nile setlist I would have loved to see. One question about their live shows though. They have a lot of orchestral stuff in many of their songs. Do they have a live orchestra? Or are the sounds overdubbed in?

That's what I was thinking too...

Nile seem like they would be so incredible to see live. It seems like Just the guitars downtuned so far would cause an earthquake with reverberations.

Yea, their riffing is so aggresisve. It seems to me nowadays there are a lot of bands that are out their making "heavy" riffs, and downtuning like crazy just so they can call theirselves "heavy." Nile is one of the few bands that actually is out to make a statement with their aggressive riffs.

Like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MH4P2WudnY

I would have loved to see that live, the intro riff is so awesome and then all hell breaks loose after 00:36.

EDIT: Do they even have a bassist? I guess you don't need one when you guitars are tuned to drop A, but I was just wondering.

Yeah, lol, ther's so many retarded bands who are like "We tuned are guitars down to drop C, listen to how heavy we are," really annoying. Nile's for real though.

Well its overdubbed, but they have an entire sound system set up for specifically that, MASSIVE cabinets about 15 feet in the air, and the sound is amazing.

And yes.

Unas, Slayer Of The Gods was amazing!!!

Its the closing song for the tour now! smile.gif

Indeed they are, the guitar beat against your chest like hammers!

Yeah, His name is Chris, forget his last name, they just picked him up, But his bass makes the riffs even heavier, and he also does some AWESOME Growls!!
