Hey,

After checking out kris's metronome lesson, i fairly got an idea of 8th's and 16'th are,
but what do you mean by triplets.

What i mean is how many notes per beat does an 8th triplet have, 16th, 16th triplet, and i do not know what 32nd is?

I know sixtuplets(which is 6 notes per beat but what is it 8th triplet, 16th....), but im still getting and jumbling everything up.

How many notes per beat is each?

Help me out with this one smile.gif

Hi Bsam. smile.gif

Here's quick sheet to help you with duration.
Let's say we're in 4/4 beat which mean 4th note is equal to one beat.

4th =two 8ths
4th =one 8ths triplet (3 8ths)
4th =four 16ths
4th = two 16ths triplets(or one 16ths sixtuplet)

Two triplets and one sixtuplet is are almost the same thing,
the only difference is in accent, 123+123 and 123456...bold notes are accented ones.

Hope this helps a bit,let me know if I missed something. smile.gif

Hey,

That was not what is was asking really, but in a way u solved a different query of mine.

Yea i did not phrase the question properly i guess, i myself did not know how to ask it tongue.gif

Well i just wanted to confirm with you about note values.

4th means 1 note per metronome beat (no matter what the tempo is)
8th means 2 notes per beat
8th triplet means 3 notes per beat
16th means 4 notes per beat
16th triplets means 6 notes per beat or sixtuplets (help me if i have got it wrong here)
Now i do not know the note value 32? and are there 32 triplets?

Also wanted to know, how can two triplets be 1 sixtuplet, i mean i get that in total they are 6 notes same as sixtuplets but wont it be new beat every time you hit like 1 23, 1 23 wont the accented note be the start of a new beat or is there a different way of playing it aswell?

I hope i am clear here, coz i am getting a bit confused myself and am not able to put into words exactly.
One more thing, i do not know what time signature means i think it is 4/4? what do you mean when it say 4/4 or 7/3 etc?
ill check out andrew theory lessons aswell for this just incase he might have it there.

Pls help me out with this. smile.gif

You're 98% right,only miss is 7/3 bar cause there's no 3rd note,
only whole note,2nd,4th,8th,16th,32 etc. smile.gif

Now more about triplets and sixtuplets.
16th triplets covers only half of beat,if beat is 4th note.
With two 16th triplets you have full beat.
8th triplets covers full beat,if beat is 4th note.
All you have to do is to understand how many notes are inside,rest of it is easy part.
As for 32th,there are eight of them in one 4th(beat) or 4+4,easy to count.

You can have 32th triplets or sixtuplets as well.
Two 32th sextuplets = one 4th note
Four 32th triplets= one 4th note
As you can see,that's 12 notes per beat in both cases. smile.gif
