the first guitar I had was a borrowed guitar (eek 1985!!), it was an Ibanez Roadstar, similar to the picture but a dark wood grain finish, as I remember it played pretty well!

Attached Image

I used this for about 3 years then I bought a Charvel guitar very similar to the 650XL and then stupidly traded that in for another (lesser model!) Charvel, makes me feel ill everytime I think about why I traded it sad.gif

my first guitar was this £50 new ($100) guitar with a tiny mini-amp, it was from a big store that sells everything in the UK so looking back i can tell the guitar was worth about $10, and the rest was profit.

Played real bad, fret buzz all over the neck- and it was really noticable (not the discrete kind of fret-buzz you sometimes get)

(no pic available)

But after 8 months of no prgress i bought a marshall starter guitar second hand- marshall rockett special.

Still use it today! all my recordings are from this bad boy.

I'll never get rid of this thing, because unlike the other guitar- this is the one i have the bond with and where i made all my progress.

edit: the marshall guitar was £90 ($180) and was used.

First guitar was a made in mexico Squire strat from the 80's that I picked up dirty cheap off a friend. I still think its one of the best playing strats Ive ever tested out, and play it as my main guitar.

My first guitar was a spanish Alhambra classical guitar, which I still own and still sounds good! Never goes out of tune even if I don't play it for months smile.gif

After that came a fender telecaster thinline '69 and many years later an epiphone SG, which is my favourite guitar these days wink.gif

Mine was an Ibanez GRX70. I don't have much use for it any longer, so I'm just keeping it for sentimental value. Currently I have it in EEE tuning, which is fun to mess around with now and then.

My first guitar was also a Strat but it was a real Strat, which I still have. Only thing is the whole thing is custom now except for the body is the only thing left from when I bought it

My first guitar was a Yamato Les Paul Copy.

It's still my only electric smile.gif .

I've decided after all these years to do it up and pay it back for all that loyalty.

I'd still like a real Les Paul Standard but hey, the copy does me for now.

Lets be honest, I don't feel I play well enough to have a reallly expensive guitar...

I have a 1984 Roadstar. It does play well. It's a little dinged up, needs a fret job and the bridge's a little wonky if I divebomb it but it's the one I play the most.

It's my second guitar so I'm not posting here. The thread is at:

My first was a baby taylor acoustic. Great little acoustic, still have it... needs a string change though tongue.gif My first electric was a fender musicmaster, which didn't actually work electronically after a short while.. but I ended up getting a MIJ telecaster aerodyne which I made a lot of progress on. So that's really my first electric, that worked tongue.gif Even though the neck pickup doesn't work now, need to have it looked at biggrin.gif

As for my first guitar, I've posted it before so there's really no reason not to now.

Attached Image

That's a Daisy Rock Rock Candy Custom. Yes, it's a girl guitar and it's pink and black.

It has a story to it though. I'm pretty sure I've posted it here before but I can't find it so here goes...

A band I like was having doing a pre-order special for their new album. Pre orders got their copy of the album signed and entered into a drawing to win a guitar. The pink and black on the guitar matched the color scheme that the band uses, so it made sense. I like signed stuff and didn't think I'd win the guitar, so I pre ordered and then my entry was picked in the guitar drawing.

So I had a guitar and didn't know how to play. Decided that I should learn how, and here I am.

"Girliness" aside, it's actually a quality guitar. Grover tuners. Bolt-on. Mahogany body and neck (8 lbs). Rosewood fretboard. 24 3/4 scale. String-thru body. Coil tap. It has those "duncan designed" pickups but they sound alright. The neck's narrow and thin and feels good to my hands.

My first one was an acoustic guitar, a Yamaha as far as I remember, with nylon strings. First electric guitar was a Flying V, the black and white Michael Schenke model, it was no Gibson though, actually I have no idea what it was... lol, wait, that's not true, I know what it was... CHEAP tongue.gif
