Well i think i must have gone crazy because despite buying a PRS Custom 24 just a couple of weeks ago i felt compelled to go and buy myself yet another guitar.

When i went to buy the aforementioned PRS i tried out a LOT of guitars and i must admit that the Strats REALLY impressed me. The feel, the tone, playability, look - it nearly had it all. But in the end the immense versatility and craftsmanship (among other things) led me to favour the PRS that day.

Well now i've had a little while to spend time with the PRS and i came to the conclusion that there was definitely room in my life for a Strat (funnily enough the PRS fills all my LP-esque needs).

There was no need for me to go crazy, i just wanted a good quality, great sounding Strat and when i tested them out a couple of weeks ago the Clapton "Blackie" Strat was the one that left an impression on me. So i went back to the store, tried it out along with the other available Strats and Telecasters and found that i still felt the same way so i snapped it up.

It's a wonderful guitar, looks fantastic (the noiseless pickups both sound awesome and look awesome - really compliments the rest of the guitar), and it really provides a surprising range of tones but really excels in the Strat strongpoints that i was interested in. Comes in a fantastic tweed-style hardcase that really has some character and got a lot of attention whilst i was walking home with it - a nice little addition!

Gonna go hook this badboy into my blues.jr amp and my POD X3 and see what magic i can weave hehe.

Thankfully i think i'm pretty well catered for now in terms of guitars and won't be buying anymore for a while ("hooray" cries my bank balance!) buuuuut i must admit they had some pretty snazzy looking Gretsch guitars in the store that i might have to investigate in the future.

I don't know much about them though so if anyone has any opinions/experience/knowledge relating to them i'd be very happy to hear it.

Anyhoo, here's a quick couple of pics i took, not great but they do the job.

PS: I give permission to anyone who reads this post to punch me if i buy another guitar within the next 6 months. I fear i'm developing a compulsion blink.gif

Thanks for the messages guys, spent a good few hours with it last night and it's a real beauty. Fantastic tone and soooo comfortable to play.

Ps whats the vintage trem like

Funnily enough the vintage trem in this guitar has been blocked as per Clapton's request, so i can't actually use it laugh.gif

I've installed the tremolo arm though, simply because i think it looks cooler, but it's just for show hehe.
