Hey GMC!.. as most of you could probably guess ( and i bet its the same with everyone else).. im a huge music fiend.. therefore my ipod is one of my most prized possesions.. because im poor i have one of those little matchbook shuffles.. cost me about $45 and im beginning to think thats all they are worth sad.gif. So ive had about 5 of these in the past year due to the same stupid little problem and its beginning to make me real mad! mad.gif

Heres whats happening

step 1: plug ipod into dock
Step2: Itunes says they have a new update
Step3: smikey2006 says.. sure update.. why not..
Step4: itunes updates and restarts ipod
Step5: Smikey2006 goes to bed.. awakes and wants to go for a walk.. grabs his ipod.. puts on headphones.. and alas no music..
Step6: Smikey2006 looks at his ipod and notices a light that is supposed to be green is blinking orange and green..
Step7: Smikey2006 has no idea what is wrong and plugs ipod back in and resets it.. but it never works again

(my apoligies for refering to myself as smikey2006 biggrin.gif )

so.. i am once again musicless.. and angry.. has anyone had any experence with this? im really fed up with my ipods being corrupt by an update APPLE SENDS ME!.. i either want a solution.. or some free ipods.. HELP!

Outlaw says get a zune... I have one and have had no problems at all

Sounds like you have downloaded some kinda virus into your ipod, try doing a google search of your problem and see if it has happened to anyone else.

Write an angry letter with lots of bolded prints, underlines, and exclamation marks smile.gif

Okay, maybe not sad.gif

But still I want answers, what's the point, what does all this mean?

i actually love this idea.. im really upset that ive had to buy an ipod about 5 times and it still never works sad.gif

also.. i may get a different mp3.. im tired of the hype over ipods.. so long as i can still cram it with music im happy.. ive googled the problem.. basically ipod owners seem to be calling it.. "the blinking lights of death" apparently its alot like the rings of fire on an xbox.. it means.. this ipod is done.. toss it out.. but what i hate is the fact that it was clearly the update that has corrupted it.. even restoring it to factory settings failed sad.gif

These kind of problems can be anything from factory defects to somethign as simple as dust or liquid building up in the inside, (it always gets in there).

Personally, i think iPods are very cheapily made, Zune makes reliable ones, and so to does Sansa. I got a Sansa and it works great, and there not that expensive.

Windows Media Player smile.gif

I use it with my Sansa, transfers a single song in about half a second smile.gif

A real big song though, like 16-20 minutes, might be up to 2 seconds laugh.gif

Fortunately ours doesn't have a flashing light I don;t believe. The IPod Touch and the newer 80 and 160GB IPods are made more sturdy than the older ones. I think you'll be fine Marcus. The IPod Touch is good but I wanted 160GB space more lol. They cost the same amount.

Smikey2006 my friend had the same problem with her shuffle and Apple sent her a new one and hasn't had a problem since. I've had a Nano for over a year now, and knock on wood, I've never had a problem. Have you tried contacting Apple?

I'm kinda with the people saying to get a Zune.

The one bad thing about Zune is its software. It was recently upgraded and now in decent form, but its nowhere near as good and editable as iTunes. If that doesn't bother you, then Zune is the way to go. I haven't restarted my Zune yet, and I've had it for 3 months now.

I got a nanoIpod ! once it was in my jeans, and i puted it in the washing mashine (not on purpose of course) so he wasn't working ! i left it about 5 days, to dry .. and now he works fine !!
about your problem, why don't you write for Ipod and tell them about your problem ? i'm sure they'll give you more info

edit : oh i didn't see that your problem was fixed ! it's cool smile.gif
