Hey GMC

Im a 23 y/o student from Ontario, Canada. I taught myself to play guitar starting when I was in high school and now am ready to start taking it a little more seriously. I've always played acoustic and shyed away from electric because I could never really play a lick without it sounding like complete crap. Ive decided to start focusing on lead guitar and soloing by using my time off this summer to learn both theory and technique. So far what I have seen on this site is amazing and Im going through all the beginner speedpicking and scale lessons. I seem to be making some pretty good progress but it still feels awkward holding the pick on an angle to speedpick. If anyone has any advice about right hand technique with speedpicking Id be happy to hear it. Looking forward to learning here.

Rock on

girard

Welcome aboard man!

DOn't worry too much about your picking technique. Try some of Muris speedpicking lessons, and try to analyze pick holding from the master. smile.gif

Welcome Girard, i'd like to help you on the speed man but that's something i'm working on as well. Give it time and it will come and as far as angeling the pick, that seems to be the consensus around here. smile.gif

I am still working on left and right hand working together so I am no expert. But I have found out, for me anyway, that more caffeine is not the way to go. A silly tip but it is all I have for you.
Alriiight...Rock on.
