Hi, I just changed the strings of my acoustic guitar (Washburn EA-20SDL) and I wanted to give Marting strings a try.

The tone is just amazing right now.
But I spent one hour changing the strings. I thought it would never reach standard tuning without breaking my guitar ... For 3rd string I had to wire it 3 times. It was pulling out the plastic piece that keeps the ball in place. That never happened before in this guitar.

I am using extra light strings (010) as I always did. The exact model is MSP 4000. But they look like as if they were 013 or something...

I am a little puzzled here. Anyway has more experience with Martin strings to give me some advice? I am afraid of hurting the neck of my guitar....

What are the exact gauges of all the strings individually? Maybe it is some hybrid set that has low strings thicker or something. Also did you pull the white plastic cap deep and firmly to the hole?

The exact gauges are 010, 014, 023, 030, 039 and 047.

Right now the guitar is set with the strings and properly tuned. It feels a little heavier than I am used too, but not much. I still can bend.

I said they felt like 013, when changing... Now playing I would say it feels like 011. I am used to change my strings in 20 minutes and having no trouble with the plastic caps at all.
What really surprised me when changing the strings was that I put it all the way firmly down and still it was making them leave when going to right tuning. In the case of G string it has thrown the plastic piece meters away... sad.gif blink.gif
