I'm stuck in a time trap right now and can't find time to practise.
I haven't been able to touch my guitars for a whole week now, just as I thought things was looking better and that I would have more time to do fun stuff.

Day 1 me thinks: Tonight I'll dedicate 1 hour to guitar.
- Oh honey! Have you noticed that this or that need to be fixed?
Me thinks: Ofc honey sad.gif

Day 2 me thinks: Tonight I'll dedicate 2 hours to guitar.
- Oh honey! Have you noticed that this AND that need to be fixed?
Me thinks: Ofc honey sad.gif

Day 3 me thinks: Tonight I'll dedicate 3 hours to guitar.
- Dad! Can you give me a ride to my guitar practise?
- Then can you help me prepare my gear? I'm performing tomorrow.
Me thinks: Ofc sonny sad.gif

Day 4 me thinks: Tonight I'll dedicate 3 hours to guitar.
- Oh honey! Have you forgot that our beloved son is playing in a theater in a town far from here tonight?
Me thinks: Ofc honey sad.gif

Day 5 me thinks: Tonight I'll dedicate the whole evening to guitar.
- Dad! Can you help me set up a network in the garage? We are having a LAN-party tonight.
Me thinks: Ofc sonny sad.gif

Day 6 me thinks: Today I'll dedicate the whole day to guitar.
- Dad! I can teach you "Nothing else matters today"!
Me thinks: Ofc soney, finally we are on track smile.gif
- Oh honey! We need to go to IKEA today!
Me thinks: Ofc honey sad.gif

Day 7 me thinks: Today I'll dedicate the whole day to guitar.
- Dad! Do you wanna watch a movie?
Me goes: Ofc daughtry. Then I'll play some guitar smile.gif ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Lather, rinse, repeat... with minor variations.

Oh well. I just wanted to whine it off. I'm not bashing the family life, just put them there as examples. You all know how it is when things just keeps happening and getting in the way.

Yeah I can empathise with you on this - happens to me a lot as well.

Also I do quite a bit of project work with my wire and the other thing I find is that whatever my wife wants doing is also (to her) of major importance and needs doing straight away so you have to stop everything and do it. Often it's also stuff that she has spent ages half doing and then realised it needs to be finished by the end of the day dry.gif and if it isn't it is my fault not hers.

As an example we're at the moment contracted to write a book with the draft to the publishers by 1st June - she writes some chapters, I write the others, then I concatenate them for consistency in style and proof the whole. She's been preparing her draft since XMas (mine was finished then - we have a project timetable she specified drafts complete XMas rolleyes.gif ) but she's only now given me her first chapter to sort out and the other three aren't ready. So I get two weeks to go through all her stuff, correct and edit and in this time I'm away on business for 8 days.

She told me this morning, 'It'll be really embarrassing if you don't send the draft to the publishers on time so you need to do it as your priority.' Er yeah sure and can I have the other couple of chapters then? No they're not finished yet. AAARRGGGHHH!

Cheers,
Tony

Understand that totally mate, I`m lucky in the respect that at the moment my daughter is only 18months old, but I know that will be coming later on!!

saturdays and Sundays are my only real two days that I get to do any vocal recording done, I have some stuff I desperatly need to do for the VB here and also for some other thigns I`m working on at the moment, but my wife generally finds things for me to do or she wants to go out (ikea etc!!!) at the weekends, I can understand, she cant get to do those things on her own during the week but its pretty frustrating!

Yep same here. I figured once school was done I'd have more time to play. Now when I get home I'm often too tired from working, or have other things that need to get done.

Finally picked it up last night thought for a bit biggrin.gif

Yeah it's been a few, four or five days since I picked up my axe. I'm really feeling it too, I wanted to pick it up tonight but I passed out on the bed for a few hours and woke up at 12:30 still tired so I decided to refresh myself a bit (get a drink, brush teeth and all that) but its still just too late. I have to be up around 7ish so I don't want to stay up too late even though I already passed out for like 3 hours. My sleep schedule just isn't good biggrin.gif

I know, thanks all. It's encouraging to hear that this happens to others, but it's so frustrating. Especially the pass-out-on-couch bit when I finally get some spare time.
