Here the RGT 320q <a href="http://www.giggear.co.uk/home/index.php?m=shop&prodid=3715" target="_blank">http://www.giggear.co.uk/home/index.php?m=...amp;prodid=3715</a> is more expensive than the JEM?!? The RGT 320q looks really cool, but doesn't have any single coils (I prefer the pick-ups in the JEM too ) When I bought it was cheaper than JEM. It seems JEM price went just a little bit down, while 320q is fixed... Not having the middle single coil is not really a problem. It is more of a choice. The intermediate positions still sound single coil. In the middle position of RGT 320q is double humbucker, while the JEM will use the middle single coil. From what I researched the 320q pickups are pretty much PAF pros. So it is also a matter of choice. If you like metal, then you cant go wrong with a Jackson. Try out a SLSMG if you get the chance, it packs a punch and handles great. + it wont cost you an arm.
I like Ibanezes alot though, i have an RG and i think it's a very versatile guitar. But i'm not a JEM fan.. i think they are seriously overpriced and there's a huge hole in them! If you need something for heavy playing, I suggest you check out those GIbsons and possible Jacksons too if you can find a good piece. Trond has a nice model with great pickups, so if you find something similar in the stores around you that would be great. With good ol' Gibson on the other hand - you really can't go wrong

wait, i thought the ibanez JEM is good for metal, no? there is a various of Jacksons at the guitar store i'm going to visit such as Jackson PC1 Phil Collen (3500$) Jackson SL2H Soloist Yellow Bengal (3700$) and the cheaper ones such as the WRMG Warrior and the DK2M Dinkey (Snowhite) but i want a better quality guitar than these two. JEM is a versatile guitar, so it should be fine for metal. But if you are really into metal you should try RG or S prestige series. By the way, they are also versatile. I play hard rock, funky, blues, whatever with mine... I never had the chance to play a soloist. From internet reviews the SL1 seems to be pretty much on pair to Ibanez RGT 320q (neck-thru, ultimate playabiliity, ...) If you have the possibility to put your hands on this: http://www.dragonforce.com/herman_ibanez_e-gen18tvf.php That should be the ultimate Ibanez metal guitar. Specs are insane! I've been dying to have a go on one. It looks great! I just called the Ibanez distributors in the U.K. here the Egen will not be out until late summer and will have a whopping price tag of £1,800 ($3,500) That is so much money! |
