Peavey bandit 112 is good yes.. or one of the the Vox VT-XL amps. Cheap and good higain amps.

I would definitely choose Randall solidstate or hybrid for that. Much more nicer clean than Peavey, and distortion is great too, specially on the hybrid.

I use an LV100. I think its a 65 watt. It, in my opinion, sounds amazing and it won't really run you broke. But thats just what I use I cant really say much else.
