Why is it that you never see an acoustic guitar with a maple neck/fretboard? They always seem to have either rosewood or ebony.

Rosewood is cool. But I don't get why it seems impossible to find a maple neck acoustic.

Just speculation, but it could be that the rosewood fretboard gives sligthly more bottom to the tone? Maple necks makes for a more trebly sound in general and maybe it's not possible to get enough bottom with a pure maple neck on an acoustic.

I figure thats probably what it is too. It seems odd though, I mean you'd think SOMEONE out there would appreciate the sound that makes biggrin.gif Maybe its really bad? It cant be though, I love maple necks biggrin.gif

Funny you aked that JVM. I just bought an Ovation acoustic electric. Befor deciding I went around to the local pawn shops and saw a late 60's Fender with a maple fingerboard. Very bright sounding. Probably was'nt very popular at all. The guy said it had been there for a while with little to no intrest.

Don't think it's maple guys. The spec's says Ivoroid and that looks to be some type of synthetic ivory.

You're right about the ivoroid fingerboard, but it is a maple neck. It answers my question about how it would look too, it looks great I think biggrin.gif I'm probably going to end up getting some kind of a parker acoustic, not necessarily this one though. Good point though sken.
