Hey guys, like the topic says, my band Autumn Rise just got our new singer, and did a quick rough demo. We did this song in 1 live take (the instruments) so sorry if some things sound off...this isn't a final recording. Hope you enjoy. I play lead in the band.

I really liked it, sounded very Def Leppard, biggrin.gif

If I can make just a couple of comments, I didnt like the clean "jangly" guitar in the background, and the rythmy break bit, I think if you could re work that it would sound even better, it sounds too busy for the song imo, your Singer sounds fantastic smile.gif

I judge things not by my personal taste, but how well the song is doing whatever it is trying to do, even if not my cup of tea. By that criteria, I don't consider this criticism warranted. The song was nice, good job at a light rock ballad type song. And yes, hang on to the singer.

BTW, my youtube account name is MizzouSucks. Rock Chalk.

edit: i mean, the acoustic was fine, a lot of people like that kind of thing, you hear it a lot in popular music.

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it. The acoustic guitar in the background sounds terrible. We were using an acoustic simulator and it turned out bad, but we figured we'd just use it for the demo, since we didn't have time to go back and track again. I think when using a proper mic'ed acoustic guitar it should sound ok, I'd also link up my delay better with the time of the song so it wouldn't sound so jumbled.

Thanks again for the feedback fellas smile.gif

laugh.gif Coming from someone who is always very quick to put there own "personal" opinion/slant onto most things they may or may not like, I think is hilarious laugh.gif

I actually said in the first line "I really liked it" which I did, the part I was talking about was one small bit (yes for me!) that stood out, the comment was made for the topic starter by the way and was in no way unconstructive nor sarcastic, but for "This Dougs For U" I apologise if it was "unwarranted" smile.gif

Really nice song.. very mainstream, and the vocalist has a great voice, the solo wasn't anything special, not something I would remember but I don't think you were trying to make it memorable, so great job man and I hope to hear more from you'r band soon smile.gif

I will definitely send you one, and I appreciate all the feedback, good and bad. We are going to record this and a couple more songs at a professional studio soon, and release our EP. When we get the tracks done I'll post a link to them here. Thanks,

Doug

It is cool, the first clean guitar is way too thin, arrangement is great, but don't like the drummers groove at all, it slows the song and creates confusion. Vocal is cool and you should record some backings in chorus. My suggestions!

Very good song you got (and band too)...I will have to agree with statements above , the drum beat could be a little simpler and more driving (groovy), this one seems a little too complicated and slows the songs down.Thats a very simple thing to re do and than the song will be even better..Singer is cool , and overall song and arrangment is really good..I can imagine real acoustic guitar in the background and it will sound great..Some backing vocals and you got yourself a mainstream hit smile.gif
