Hi Marcus, How are You? smile.gif
I have the following problem...I've recently bought a Fender American Stratocaster, and a new support (one of those hanging types, I think you know what I mean)...Anyways, I arrived home one day, and my cleanning lady said it accidently fell when she was cleanning the supporter =(. The guitar looks good, nothing is bad about it but the strings make more noise when I play on them, you think I need to re-string them or something? Already tried streching them, didn't work...Hope you can help me out

Thanks
Filipe

Hi Filipe,

I'm sorry to hear this! I've never experienced this myself, but it seems like you probably need to put new strings on if you find it disturbing with the extra string noise. I believe it's very difficult to stretch them and get good results, so re-stringing would be the easiest solution smile.gif

Oh, and tell that cleaning lady to be careful with your gear!! mad.gif biggrin.gif

Will do, maybe it's my chance to put Elixir strings, since I'm gonna do a pickup change on it anyways, like you do with your stratos...Thanks For the fast response.

P.S: Doubt that you remember, but once we were in the chat room and I said artificial harmonics were hard when you said they were easy...Few months later, I'm the only one in the band that can do them naturally...Thanks wink.gif

Hi again Marcus...I did the re-stringing stuff but it still makes some noise, you think it can be from the bridge :|?

Open the back plate and check if any springs fell off huh.gif

Maybe the neck got a piece of the smash and that's why it's buzzing?

About the same thing happened to me once, and I got the same problem:
My little sister tried to play my guitar just for fun, and when she put it back on the stand, she put it the wrong way so that the strings were pushed onto the fretboard and made some small crevices into a couple of frets. huh.gif mad.gif The strings somehow started buzzing, and I took it to the guitar store and someone filed the frets that were broken a little. Afterwards I restringed it, and there was significiantly less buzz. I just had to play the guitar a little so that the frets should get kind of even again after the filing if you understand. smile.gif
Maybe the same happened to your guitar. Try to look over your frets and see if you can find any crevices!

I have no sympathy for anyone who has a cleaning lady, how I wish I had one, how I have wished all my adult life.

Maybe your neck needs to be reset. Fenders have that neck tilt screw, maybe that got knocked out of whack, and needs to be adjusted. I think you loosen the bolts that attach the neck and do that. Probably you should take it to a shop.

edit: typo

Oh, absolutely. Fender necks are nearly indestructible. Years ago Pete Townsend of the Who used to smash SG's at the end of his act. He tried that with a Fender and embarrassed himself. Hendrix burned his, that is the only way to destroy them.

They can fix you up fine, don't worry. But go to a good shop, to someone who knows that they are doing, preferably experience with Fenders.

Sounds to me like the bridge's gone funky. Take it to your local shop if you can't see it for yourself. Anyway, if it is, you have to change the parts. not too expensive.

Edit:

If it's the neck, it would prolly bend toward the pressure, therefore making string action bigger instead of lesser.

About the frets, you'll see if they're not equal in height.

Edit Edit:
Didn't see I was in your forum marcus, sorry.

Sure, make a video! don't know if I or someone else will be able to say what's wrong though, but it's worth a try smile.gif

I can hear a little buzz yes, but it's so little I don't believe I would care if it was on my own guitar tongue.gif

Hm... I think it's the tuning pegs! try to touch them one by one, while playing. Sounds like it could be one of those that's a bit loose (of course it's easier if someone else can play the guitar while you thouch them). It could also be the also springs on the back, hard to say... unsure.gif

Beautiful guitar, btw smile.gif
