Hey folks,
I started practising Paul Gilbert´s "Scarified". The arpeggios are pretty difficult, but I will master them. biggrin.gif I only have a little problem with my left fingers. I´m not sure how I should grip the following passage:

CODE
--------------------12----16-14-16-12----12-------|
--12----------12-------12-------------12----12----|
-----13-11-13----13----------------------------13-|
--------------------------------------------------|
--------------------------------------------------|
--------------------------------------------------|

Should I play the notes on the 12th fret with a barré or each note with another finger?

Cheers

I'd say barre, but I don't know how the the song goes, so I can't say if the notes should be arpeggiated.... But I found it easier to play with barre, especially the last part, but it's up to you....

I find the best way to play this sort of thing is to barre (only on 2 strings) and roll your finger off one string onto the next string so you don't get 2 notes sounding at once.

Yeah use a small barre over the E and B string and roll your fingers so that the 2 notes wont ring at the same time biggrin.gif

i would say

2 3 1 3 2 3 | 1 1 4 2 4 1 1 1 1 3
-------------------------12-----16-14-16-12----12--------|
--12-----------12------------12--------------12----12-----|
-----13-11-13----13------------------------------------13--|
---------------------------------------------------------------|
---------------------------------------------------------------|
---------------------------------------------------------------|

where the | is i would switch my fingering to barre the 12 fret

OK. Thanks for your replies. Now, I know that I have nothing to change in my fingering. My thinking was ok. smile.gif
