A tubeamp is not neccessary for home practicing, maybe not even the better choise.

Between the ones you mentioned and concidering your style, I think the Randall will be the best one.

The amps you showed are all capable of rehearsing with a drummer when they are cranked. They are at the edge between home practice and stage performance. For HOME USE ONLY you can buy a pod or korg pandora and you will have the most versitaile amp in bedroom-soundlevel. If you think of using it for band practice too, then try the Peavy Valveking Combo, the randall and the marshall (not the 401, it sucks)

What would be a good amp for home practice then ? ohmy.gif

Maybe the RG is, the AVT50 aswell but I think Randall more for your style.

I mean, don't go for a powerful tubeamp for homepractice and with that I was mostly refeering to the Marshall DSL

At this moment the Randall rg75 G3 seems a pretty good one, and it has some pretty good reviews biggrin.gif
And it seems to be what I'm looking for ohmy.gif

How about the Randall TC, 50W maybe, if you're aiming for a band.

The problem is that you don't want to carry a tube amp back and forth between your home and the rehearsal room. They can be sensitive to being moved.

if you only want it for home it would be a god idea to get a POD XT and use your computer as an amp. I think it's a really good option smile.gif

Well, Marshalls (both of them) don't have enough drive for that, and Laney, not too sure... I would say a Randall is a safe bet. It has a slightly synthetic drive channel but clean is superb, better than marshall. There's plenty of drive too, and 75W is a lto of power for gigs too.

Hi Mark,

the Laney is excellent but its not a high gain amp and I dont think youll be that pleased with it for your style of playing. Not if you like buckethead anyway laugh.gif laugh.gif

I would say the Randall or the Marshall for sure, but make sure you try them first wink.gif

Yeah, accourding to some reviews the laney amps is more a britt rock sounding amp tongue.gif But I thought that Paul gilbert also uses it sometimes for home practicing, so that's why I wanna check it out tongue.gif

He did use laneys, but not the VC, that will make you sound like the beatles laugh.gif laugh.gif (I know I bought the Vox AC15 which is almost identical and it wasnt me ohmy.gif )
