I agree. He plays really awesome. However, I find that he shreds too much. A bit more musicality would be great.

I love his stuff, He has an incredible sense of melody, Planet Gemini and Hands Without Shadows are just beautiful. My favorite songs are 'Burn' and 'Rainforest', especially Rainforest, its just beautiful.

QUOTE (botoxfox @ Jun 19 2008, 05:13 PM) *
His tone is just plain awful, it makes me yawn after 3 seconds. I do like most of his playing, but I just can't stand listening to it because of his tone.

??? To me his tone is absolutely insane

http://youtube.com/watch?v=qG74eVb6V10&feature=related

The intro is flat out incredible, from the slow melodies to the insane speed parts, and the rest the same. Truely an underrated guitarist IMO, he is definately one of the best of our time.

I think if people listened to his music outside of the stuff on Youtube, they would get a real taste of his abilities and grow to like him.

And I love his tone, its so recognizable and memorable, And its just plain awesome smile.gif

To each his own though.
