Does someone know Robert Cray?..amazing blues guitarist ! Saw him once live as an opening act at a Clapton concert 2 years ago...I really loved it...even more than the actual Clapton gig, I don't know what the big deal about Clapton is anyway...I mean he is an awesome player but the most songs he did are pretty boring for me except the big hits like Layla, Tears in Heaven, Cocaine and stuff...

In all honesty: Michael Amott, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani and Muris Varajic. And I'd pay thousands to be an apprentice to any one of those geniuses.

The one's that are my favorite, that made a big impact on my whole playing in general, would be

Jason Becker, I think he's the greatest guitarist in the world...
And Shawn Lane, Takayoushi Ohmura, Satoshi Katada, Marty Friedman, Mamoru Goriku, Ry Cooder, SRV, Ryota Kogure, Haruhisa Naito.....

While certainly not the 'best' guitarist (how would one measure that objectively, anyway?), if a magical genie asked me which guitarists' skills I'd could copy 1:1, it'd definitely be John Frusciante. He's by far my favourite guitarist as much as Flea is my favourite bassist. Strangely, RHCP isn't my favourite band.

So, yeah. Frusciante. I wish I could have the chance to talk to him one day. Besides a great guitarist, he seems like a very interesting person and a very atypical rockstar.
