I'm a fan of the black with gold hardware look so I'd say YES!! sharp looking axe
I'd shop the price tag around a bit though

Epiphones makes some great quality instruments. I've tried quite a few of them, and i havent found anyone i didnt like. The pickups arent usually the best though, atleast not in my experience. But if your still in the learning process then they will work perfectly for now smile.gif

If you are looking for a LP model for that price, I would go for the EPIPHONE LP CUSTOM EX EMG EB or the PRS TREMONTI SE BK.

Great guitar, I think you should definitely buy it. As a matter of fact, I think that anyone who can't afford USA Gibson LP should have this guitar in their collection smile.gif

As a brand I think it's ang for the buck. I've got an Epi and I'm happy with it.

She's so beautiful...alone the look is already worth the money... wub.gif Have you also considered this one....?
http://www.thomann.de/gb/epiphone_les_paul_black_beauty.htm One more humbucker for 20 Euro more...not that bad....looks a bit overloaded on the other hand...

I think that's a wonderful guitar in its price range, I tried one in my local shop and sounds good too. Beautiful, affordable, well built... a good choice!

Epiphones are good in general.

Great for its price.
But if you really like that kind of guitar I recommend you save up and get http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=6727 the Gibson Les Paul Studio. I think it will save you money in the long run as you won't want to upgrade for a long time. Just my opinion. Oh, and definately shop around for the price.

@Trond Vold: Yeah i think so too. For me it will last.

@Ivan Milenkovic: Yes, for me the Gibson guitars are very expensive, because I´m a student and don´t work for enough money for such a guitar.

@Nighthawk: I did already see this one, but like you I thought it is al little bit overloaded with 3 Pickups.

@Tomotoms: I will seriosly think about buying this one you suggested. But I have to see how much money I can spend for a new guitar.

Well, I replaced my Epiphone Les Paul Ultra with a Gibson Les Paul Standard a couple of days ago.
If I compare them the Epiphone is a really good guitar, considering it costs about a third of the Gibson. (the Epi Les Paul Ultra is probably one of the best non-Gibson Les Pauls there is)
Finish is perfect, sound is great.
The difference between the Epiphone and the Gibson isn't as big as the price difference.

Get it and when you can afford it you can always buy a Gibson.
I got a very decent trade-in price fot the Epi as well smile.gif

Whaddaya mean? huh.gif
He's asking for specific advice here! wink.gif

I've heard that the souped up version of the Epiphone LP is on par with the cheapest Gibson LP. So get the Epiphone! laugh.gif

Like this one:
Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II wink.gif

They sell for $600-700 - seen here:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation?...e+ultra&st=

You get real Gibson pickups here - so no need to upgrade them. wink.gif

ive tried it out and its 7/10 but for its price range its 9.5/10
if u put in gibson pickups it would be 9/10 easily
If i were u id snatch up some gibson 57 classics-----gibson 490 rhythm and 498 treble------or some gibson burstbuckers
good luck

Like many of you said the pickups are not so good, I think about buying the guitar I suggested and to change the pickups. But theres a problem I do not know so much about pickups sad.gif So do you know some good? I need some for heavier riffs like metal stuff but also some for not so hard riffs. Hope you can help me like you did it already smile.gif Thanks for that.

If you can afford the Epi LP Ultra, then you don't need to change any pickups. smile.gif
And you've got yourself the best non-Gibson Les Paul available. wink.gif
