"When creating a lead guitar part, put the instrument down and sing the kind of lead you want to hear."

This is something I struggle to do - I always pick up the guitar and improvise until I get something. Actually freeing yourself from the guitar will get you a different kind of melody, and you will then be forced to learn to play it, which will push your envelopes a little! I really must make a habit of doing this ...

Very important exercise for all players. Often we develop a melody in the brain that doesn't relate to the technique that we are used to on the guitar. So this, as Andrew said, opens up new possibilites and ideas.

I've also used this technique for as long as I remember, Great tip David
I purchased a few of these years back and pretty much always have one on me. Like Gera said you never know when you'll come up with an idea. http://www.overstock.com/search?keywords=d...hType=HP_Header This post has been edited by Henry Dietzel: Jun 30 2008, 03:41 PM -------------------- |

Like Gera said you never know when you'll come up with an idea. http://www.overstock.com/search?keywords=d...hType=HP_Header Thats a great device ! I was thinking of getting something similar..Tell me , what is the sound quality of it and does it have some kind of limiter (to be able to record loud enviroment for example gig or practice room ? ) Just for capturing ideas.. -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

This is a reat tip. I always do this to compose my solos and melodies. I believe more in my mind than in my fingers...
