I dont think his style is that hard at all really, a true blues man in his solo career. Could be something worth looking into.. like i say it isnt that hard because of his blues...... what you guys think? biggrin.gif

I love Gary Moor blues.

Its harder to play than it sounds though - he is a true genius. I would put him along side David Gilmour in terms of phrasing skills.

Well worth studying in my opinion

Gary Moore is Awesome, I've just really started listening to him in the past couple days-I mean I've heard still got the blues and a couple others before.

But, Damn he is Great. He plays the Same style I do, Hard Rock/Blues, or heavy blues however you want to call it.

I love this cover of red house https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXYjEMTQRm0

I get the same feeling from watching that as I do when I hear SRV. ohmy.gif just blows me away.

I've Just added to my list of top 5 favorite Guitarists.

1. Eric Clapton
2. SRV
3.Eric Johnson
4.Gary Moore
5.Jimi Hendrix

Ha I just happened across that video for the first time myself a few days ago, wonderful vid. His solo stuff is awesome - but he's not limited to just blues. His stuff with thin lizzy is absolutely mind blowing. Just listen to Black Rose (and by that I mean the entire album). So he also did a lot of hard rock... and he did some borderline metal stuff in his solo career too.

I think he can definitely cross the borderline of cheesy sometimes in the lyrics to his songs, but his guitar playing never disappoints, and a lot of the lyrics are very good, plus he's a very good singer too.

I'd say he's in my top ... 7 maybe. my list is much like Slammers, in a different order, would just include a few others:

David Gilmour (by the way I saw a comment in that video that his gig at the same show was far better.. if its the version of Marooned I saw, it was great but the red house cover was much better)
Jeff Beck
Jimmy Page
Mark Knopfler
Clapton
SRV
Moore
Hendrix
Keith Richards
Billy Gibbons

and I know theres many more but these guys are the core.

What an awesome cover for red house! smile.gif

Gary Moore is a true inspiration for me, he's vibrato, precise bends, perfect fast but not too fast runs and amazing feel are exactly the things I'm aiming for with my playing.

His "Victims of the Future" album for me is one of his best, it was my favourite album of choice when I was in my teens and I still love listening to it now.

As far as the opening post where its claimed his style is "easy" unsure.gif I`d have to strongly disagree his technique is second to none, his speed with precision is awesome and the man plays with amazing feel, he`s a true great in my opinion, and also manages to do this whilst pulling the most amazing funny faces laugh.gif

I`d give my right arm to play like Gary Moore ..... unsure.gif ang on ... that wont work then... but you get my drift smile.gif
