I always wanted a Rickenbacker because of my love for the Beatles and 60's rock. However, they are very expensive and it's impossible to get a used one nowadays.

Anyone have one or play them? What do you think about them? Someday I might get a 12 string electric.

They are extremely expensive but seem like good guitars, however I still have never played one. dry.gif I do know that Tom Petty plays them.

I've seen a few for around half-a-grand. I kinda liked them actually. I think they were marked down so much because an earthquake made the stand fall down and they got pretty dinged up. They had some repair work... But, other than that they still played and sounded good (which is all I really care about). smile.gif

Usually when I have seen them they are upwards of $1500 going up to $3500 EDIT: never mind $5,400.

WHOA huh.gif ! Sorry, nevermind! Definitely not rickenbackers. I went on their site to correct myself, I was thinking of Italia guitars... They looked similar to me at the time... Thanks for the correction mate wink.gif !

Since they are out of production, these guitars cost quite a bit, specially mint quality that became collectors items. Rarely you will see somebody play it live, only big stars. Often it is used only in studios, as wear from the stage would ruin them.

QUOTE ("Steve Vai")
Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.
