Damn. I went to do some physical exercise - well, actually just riding my bike for about 50 km. Now I'm completely wasted and don't even feel like playign guitar! Haha. That's what happens when I do some hard physical exercises! laugh.gif

according to a lot of pro lifters you need a day or two to recover. Hence this applies to the muscles you're working out, many lifters tend to divide their muscles on different day enabling them to exercise every day and get hyper results. Maybe one should do the same with guitar.

i should work out too... but i'd rather spend my rare, valuable free time doin exercises with my beautiful guitar than a piece of lead.

but, like other guys have said, back when i used to work out I'd do sit-ups and push-ups every day, but for lifting i did arms/back and shoulders on day one, then legs and torso stuff the next, followed by a day off, or something like that... it's been too many years, but it worked really well while i stayed with it and i never was too exhausted to do my normal daily activities.

Just because you pump iron, dont be so sure that those flimsy wires on you're fretboard cant do you no harm. I have worked in a heavy lifting environment for the last 12yrs, and recently did an injury after taking up regular guitar practice. I think it may be because guitar playing can strain the muscles (and delicate nerves dont forget), that often never get used in everyday arm/hand movements like Gripping, pull/pushing etc.

I think lifting heavy does affect playing, I can't recall the player but one famous metal player mentioned it in an interview saying that he had to tone it down because his forearms would get too stiff. Unfortunately I don't get enough time to lift nor play guitar regularly which sucks...
