Wrote this last night after beating The Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen yet again (such awesome games!)... some things need rerecorded, vocals definitely being among them. The drums could be better, but i'm new with them (this is the first song I've done completely on my own in this department).

Just want some opinions and hopefully a couple ideas to add. I'd like to throw a solo in there towards the end on the part after "the blood flows still" and have it go straight up to the ascent before the outro riff... but i need help picking a scale to use for it, so someone please make some suggestions or, if you're feeling inspired, record me some ideas.

thanks

(More songs can be found at our band's myspace page here.)

It's great, I like the tune a lot. Very groovy. It's a little bassy and muddy for my taste, but it's cool. I suggest lowering down the bass a little, and trying to make a kick little more spot-like to come out.

I like it! I actually don't mind the bassy-ness to much.

Thanks guys. The mix is a bit off because I sent the project to my bass player and had him record his part and then send it back to me here, so I didn't get a chance to fix the bass/vocal levels before I posted it. I'm sure I'll be redoing it all sometime in the near future anyways.

I accidentally overwrote the Sonar project this was saved in, but I had my bass player edit his file and send it to me, so the vocals and bass should be a bit quieter now.

This is really good and well made. It's far from what metal i'm into though, but i like it.
It didnt sound too bassy on my speakers, but the drums could have been a bit louder and the snare was a little weak.

Thanks, most of the vocals, along with the bass guitar, are done by my friend, I jump in here and there though for backing and some alternating parts in chorus though

Hi!

Really heavy stuff! I loved it! For me, it was a bit bassy... hope you don't mind, I did a quick remaster while I listened... at my place it sounds a bit better now. I opened up the EQ around the vocals and guitar and cut a bit around 200-250Hz. Lowered the overall bass in the whole mix... and squezzed the track a bit more...
I also widened the stereo spectrum of the song... probably I overdid it hehe smile.gif
I did this using my headphones, not the ideal way to mix but gf sleeps smile.gif ... anyway, here it is:

cool! it's hard for me to equalize and all that, it's so much different sounding on every speaker i play it on. I'd say it's an improvement, thanks!

now for some sort of lead!

I liked it a lot! The sound was great imo, the only thing I didn't enjoy was the vocals, he doesn't sound like he's been growling for that long, is that correct? It sounds a bit "loose" or something for my taste, otherwise it's great.

EDIT: I listened some on your myspace, and I really really really really really like your songs. The only problem is the vocals, like I said tongue.gif

yeah he was just the bass player, but he's been covering the vocals for lack of a better vocalist. What parts in particular are you talking about being loose? thanks for the input

I meant the vocals sounded loose, I actually loved everything else. Including the sound of the recording, it should be a bit muddy and dirty. With better vocals (David Vincent style more than that current style I'd compare to Nathan Explosion more than anythign else, more compressed if you know what I mean, it still doesn't have to be really technical) it would be so awesome I can't describe it. And I consider myself really picky.

And please, keep posting your new songs on GMC, so I won't forget about you.
