Hey guys,

My amp is buzzing all the time. It has been like that since I bought it. I think it has to do with the electric network. Is there any way to stop the buzz without having to change the network? Like a pedal or something?

There are noisegates, but the most efficient one would be infront of your amp, to stabelize its input power.

Anyway, we're all having this problem buddy, not alot you can do without major steps.

If you have alot of pedals and stuff, try to seperate power cables and signal cables as good as possible, this will help alot.

Hmm... Maybe I'll buy a noisegate then. Any recommendations?

And with the pedals. My effects go through my effectsloop, but I only have a phaser, chorus and delay... that's not too much right? tongue.gif

Is it an open string noise or an electronic buzz?

yea just a signal problem there.. its kinda hard to get rid of usually.. i have this white boss compressor pedal that gets rid of alot of unwanted buzz during playing but when i stop the buzz is still there... but this buzz only occurs on my peavy.. my krank has no imperfections tongue.gif.. jk its still there just less noticeable.. i think the amount of fuzz is just based on amp construction quality / amount of distortion, on clean channels i never hear this buzz except for a little bit..

You can buy a Furman power conditioner, it will remove the 60Hz hum.

hmm maybe its amp is not grounded or something (and maybe there is a ground/lift switch behind it..try flipping it)..Take it to friends house and see if it acts the same...You'll than know if its electrical network in your house the problem..Changing power cables may help too...

I would recommend the same. Try another outlet aswell.
Do you have a refrigerator, TV, CRT-monitor, hotwatermachine, high-watt ovens and similar near the amp/guitar?

Yes, but that's only good if it's the input power that is the issue. prolly is though, I agree.

Nope, none of that. What is an outlet..?

Oh and when I put the volume up higher the buzz becomes bigger too. Does that mean anything?

All amps do it. Normally it is just the sign of a cheap amp if it's a big buzz. It's down to electronic noise which is almost impossible to fully get rid of. It may be being amplified by another factor but it's quite hard to narrow it down. I advise trying the amp at a friends house and seeing if the noise is greater, the same or lesser first.

An outlet means a power supply. So a plug socket. Try a different one.

If it has an effects loop you can make it silent with an ns-2...I know nothing about the valve king.
If you want the hookup instructions, look up my old thread in gear called ns-2 (way back). This is the way to silence that suka. It makes my 5150 silent and thats a big accomplishment.

Yeah I got an effectsloop! I wish I could somehow borrow an NS2. Would be shame if I bought it and it wouldn't work.

EDIT: turned off the reverb and it's a loooot better now. Is my amp-reverb broken or something then?

Your problem is either that you haven't seperated signal cables from power cables down ground, OR your AC currency is unstable (net voltage.)

You need a 60hz hum killer like Ivan said.

Or 50hz if you're american, I dunno which frequency is used elsewhere though.

That's very strange. Must be some powerdevice close to the circut then, that ain't insulated well enough.

Please record with reverb and without.
And I mean with only reverb. Don't have other crap running in the background.

Who knows what could be the problem. Usually that buzz is associated with poor electrical wiring, not properly grounded cables, heavy consumers etc..

I agree with Bogdan and Trond here, just get a power cable, and plug the amp into a different current outlet (the one that is not on the same line as the buzzing one) to see if the problem persist. If it does, take it to amp tech, just in case, maybe it's a more serious problem.
