WOW I completely missed this one one - the way you built it up from slow to fast makes it an excellent etude for aspiring sweepers! biggrin.gif Thanks Smells! biggrin.gif

So Kris if your reading do us all a favour and let Chris here be a full time intructor you know you want to......

Chris and I have already discussed this - and of course he would qualify to teach at GMC! biggrin.gif

However - we have 55 instructors producing normal GMC video lessons for us - but we only have one single person who dedicates his time and responsability to our on-the-rise SI board: keeping quality top notch and showing other SI instructors how it should be done.

I hope with all my heart that Smells will continue to dedicate his time to the SI part of GMC - but if he chooses to do otherwise he will have my support for that as well - of course! smile.gif

Thanks again for this killer SI lesson Smells!

Cheers Kris smile.gif I`m more than happy with what I do here on the SI boards, I get an awful lot out of it for myself and so fully intend to carry on producing SI lessons

Nice lesson Smells, well done. smile.gif

I decided to practice sweeping a little more because I basically just knew what it was and couldn't do it very well. So I tried this lesson and it works great for me! Now sweeping is probably one of my favourite techniques to use on the guitar, tough I can't do it like Petrucci yet. wink.gif

Good approach mate! Playing arpeggios on 3 strings requires really good picking abilities, and develops them.

My advice is to try this: Start with upstroke, downstroke, use alternate picking(ok, I know it is a sweep lessons, but nevertheless), also try, different patterns, even with sweep picking, there are some options here, try to cover every possible situation in which you could be while playing. Guitar is positional instrument, so in order to be able to express freely one must be able to find appropriate position in a second. Sometimes you are in 12th position, 7th, whatever, and you must be able to adjust your fingering to play desired arpeggios. Sometimes you play fast, for example, so you need an upstroke to begin sequence you want, and you cannot always control which stroke will be first. Sometimes it will be impossible to play with alternate picking, sometimes with sweep.

Keep your mind open!

Just added this one to the knowledge base. It would be awesome to actually upload the vids of these older SI lessons to youtube, that way they would look better embedded both here in the boards and in the knowledge base smile.gif
