I'm happy that I can say I don't smoke or drink and I never will. I don't have anything against drinking, I don't believe at all in getting drunk (religion thing) but I don' think even the occasional drink is for me.

I don't smoke, and I've only had the occasional cigar due to lost bets etc. And it tastes horrible.

You need someone to introduce you to the world of cigars.

People close to me have died in cancer caused by tabacco - I really hope that those of you who are still using this drug will quit as soon as possible, as I really don't want the same to happen to you! sad.gif

edit - if there are poeple who aren't aware of the danger in smoking - here are some pictures of what cigarettes can do to you:

From wikipedia:

QUOTE
The World Health Organization estimated in 2002[3] that in developed countries, 26% of male deaths and 9% of female deaths were attributable to smoking.

As you can see - this is serious stuff. sad.gif

Kris: I'm sorry, but posting those pictures is not something I think is decent. Link to them sure, but to make them show up like this from reading a thread is horrible, I'd rather see the F word or other things that aren't allowed here. Yes I think people know it's bad and I agree, but just use text for it, there's no need to show that. I know it's your forum so I'm in no place to critizise your posts, but I did not want to see that, so please remove the pictures. smile.gif

I disagree with you - the tobacco industry has (and still is!) been making billions of dollars by selling a highly cancerogeneous product killing people and destroying families.

These pictures reveal the truth and I would much rather disgust some GMC:ers than see them die in cancer.

One great thing nowaday, at least here in my city is that young people are not smoking as they do when I was sixteen. The mask of tobacco industry feel when they start to show the consequences in television.

Everyone knows that smoke is bad for health and that it grant you a great chance to acquire cancer. I think that the choice is obvious! smile.gif

I am very happy to hear this about your city - unfortunately everyone does not know about the risks of smoking. Once again according to wikipedia:

"In the developing world, tobacco consumption is rising by 3.4% per year."

So those of you who live in a part of the world where this knowledge is widely spread are lucky! I really hope GMC can be used to spread this extremely important information about the dangers of tobacco.

It's exactly the opposite here which is kinda sad.
The people know about the dangerous of smoking, and the kids try smoking very early (12 years, at that age I didn't even think about smoking), continue smoking, because it's cool and in no time they are addicted.
I also don't know what the parents do with their kids, because if someone smokes a lot you smell it even if they use chewing gum and all that stuff.

I've never seen photos and I think that it's ok to show what this drug can do to a person. Why should we hide this? It's very important to keep the people informed about this.

I'm glad to say that I never smoked. smile.gif but I'm sad to say that a lot of friends of mine do it and they are having several health problem. sad.gif

My oldest brother smokes, I don't think he does a lot, but when he was around my age he did drugs and stuff. I am glad he stopped with that so maybe there is hope for him.

ROFL Kris. I know your intentions are good but you're taking it too seriously.

Feeling depression that cigs are bad for you and you still smoke is MUCH worse than having a few cigs per day and enjoying them. IMHO.

So just chill out and enjoy the smoke.
