A few years back (when i was a nieve teenager) i picked up smoking.. i never got too into it never went through a pack a day.. maybe in a week id go through a pack.. or id bum off of people at parties and stuff.. but i had one friend who got really into it.. and he went downhill.. his hands and teeth were always yellow and he smelt of smole all the time.. as well smoking opened him up to a whole group of people i didn't want to associate with and hes gone downhill since and i put them down and said id never buy a pack again.. Im very healthy concious now and will probably never smoke cigarettes again.. at the same time i have no problem with people smoking and i don't mind being around smokers or having the occasional cigar with a group of friends... i would probably even smoke a dart again sometime if i was content i wouldn't make it a regular habit.. like all things i think anything in moderation is not too bad or too good for you.

At this point in the thread may I remind everyone to keep on topic, and refrain from discussing Illegal Substances as it is against Posting Guidelines - thanks!

You inhaled cigars for 10 years? wow must be great to have quit then smile.gif

It's a good achievment for me quitting and I do feel great, sticking with it for life is the tough part. After looking at those pictures Kris put up I feel like vomiting, that 1st pic is brutal. I really don't crave a cig at the moment or anytime soon

I had a cold and take the momment to stop smoking. 5 years ago.

It was one the best things I did. Today I dont stand the smell of cigarretes, I think that my body created his own protection against this.

The most notable things were: taste... it was deeeeeply improved after a while without smoking... and the smell of my pillow. Before it smells like an ash tray.

Well feeling guilty is much worse to your health than those actual cigs.

So my advice: switch cigs for cigars and don't inhale them. And start cutting down until it's like 1 a day. That's OK =)

A little motivation:

My stepdad, who I was talking about earlier in this thread, smoked a lot.. He started smoking when he was 13 years old. Since then he has been smoking at least three cigarettes every single day, or a entire pack ++, the last couple of years. He's 50 now. (Except his hardcore coughing, de doesen't look that bad, so the pictures Kris put up is for the really unlucky.)
The last couple of months he has joined some of his friends on a pokernight once a week, where every last one of them was smokers. He came home some weeks ago and said that he had scared the crap outta himself, since he brought two 20-packs of cigarettes with him, and those were gone within the night.
After that, he has cut down on his smoking like a god. He's down to two-three cigarettes a day, maybe not even that. He lighted one up before going to work this morning, and still had some of that cigarette left when he came home.
His goal is to stop completely in the next months ^^

No matter how long people have been smoking, it's never too late to stop =)
I'm not gonna tell people to stop smoking though, since it's all up to themselves. If a person don't want to stop smoking, it's not really much to do about it.

If someone of you want to make a serious attempt to quit I would recommend that you first read a book by Allen Carr, don't remember the name of it.
It's not a miracle cure (which the marketing tends to make you to believe). It gives you his views on quitting and an insight in how your body works and is effected buy the drug and how your mind uses every trick it has to fool you into continuing smoking.

If think if you seriusly want to quit, you will make it, but you have to be 100% motivated to do it, ive had several failed attempts in the past, untill a few years ago i was dedicated enough to quit, and then it was less struggle than i anticipated.

I never smoked, and never will. But I respect if people want to, it's their choice. Does not mean I will put up with people smoking near me when I have dinner. I'm a very calm person but if people disrespect me and smoke in my face or close to me when eating I snap happy.gif Has happened more than once, that I have stepped up and crushed a cigarette with my hand while someone having it in their mouth tongue.gif

A little something to share too:
I had a course in measuring car exhaust carbonoxide levels with a machine .. And we tried for fun to lit a cigarette and stuff it in the measure vacuum sensor... It read A 100 times more than the legal level for a CAR exhaust Of course, this test smoked the entire cigarette without break in about a minute. But gives you something to think about.

I have to say though, I do agree with Kris. Smoking has killed off my aunt, two of my grandparents and friends of the family. It's not good stuff. To take a lighter note, I agree with whoever said that coke and soda in general is terrible too, and I've also felt much better since I stopped drinking that filth!

I believe audiopall is British, so ok with me. But you impact my medical costs, as you live in the US.

I am happy if you smoke, so long as you agree to pay your own medical costs for your entire life, and not force non smokers to share that burden with you.
