Ok well I had a beginners, Ibanez Gax70 that is really messed up electrically. I've been playing my dad strat lately but hes against that idea haha so in november-december i'm planning on buying an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-2. But until then I need something to practice on in the 300-350 range. Right now i'm considering the Epiphone G-400, the "Epiphone Limited Edition 1966 G-400 Electric Guitar", the Epiphone Les Paul Studio, and the Ibanez art100. Also, by temporary I didn't mean literally only using it till november, a while after i get it I will probably upgrade the hardware, and the pups. So which of these guitars would you suggest, or is there something else you have in mind?

in my experience everything by ibanez that is (insertmodel)300 + is pretty good, the pickups won't be that good and if you get one with a toplock i'd replace the screws (really messed up mine).

but more important is that you get a guitar that feels and plays comfortable for you.

Epi sounds like a good option if that is what you're after. Nice upgradable guitar it is. My vote on that.

Don't buy an Epiphone now and a slightly better one in three months! Save you 300-350 and add them to the november fund and buy a Gibson Les Paul Studio. Nothing against epiphone, they are good and I have two myself but the gap between a gibson and an epiphone is still really big. Save up for the Gibson and continue to play you fathers strat in secret or try to repair your old Ibanez, you won't regret it once you get your hands on the gibson.

Hm, Zakk WYlde has a good point here. Maybe you should talk to your dad and see what he thinks about it. I'm sure it is a wiser decision to save the money and buy a good quality instrument that will last you more than 2 cheaper ones. November is soon to come mate.
