Well, the ones I tired rocked. Of course it rocks if pickup is good, I just wanted to say that splitting humbuckers can't give you the same result as using single, it's not wounded as single. -------------------- Youtube

Well, I don't really understand that becuase a splitted one simply has two output wires. the single is half the coilings of the hum, which is technically a singlecoil. it's not synthetic. Try to connect 2 singles and you'll see that is not humbucker. I thought the same while ago tho. -------------------- Youtube

well it's true I tested tons of pickups(H and S) on prototype guitar and still got different conclusion, tho I read some articles as well. Edit: too much off topic,I'm gonna stop, sorry. This post has been edited by Muris Varajic: Aug 4 2008, 11:32 PM -------------------- Youtube

well, on my strat, if you combine pickups, it sure as heck cancels most of the hum. Maybe I have a magical strat. |

If you're gonna choose between the Ibanez And the MusicMan, I'd go for the MusicMan

I without doubt trust your ear over mine, however my technical background is telling me that they should be the same With your techical background at concideration did you concider that a humbucker that you split could and would not have it's position directly under a harmonic position, hence the coils of the active half would be set off. A singlecoil can be placed right under a harmonic position (the octave of the 12th fret f.ex) and pick up the very best sound while a humbucker would be placed such that it's mid position is right under the harmonic position in order to have it sound best, splitting the coils leaves one on each side of it and the active one will not pick up the best sound available. That proves, in theory, that a split humbucker will not sound as good as a single coil since it's not placed correctly and therefore not picking up the best of the strings. And since we both trust Muris' ears I think it's proven in it's practical use aswell Edit: too much off topic,I'm gonna stop, sorry. With both theory and practice prooved. I second that, back on topic now. -------------------- My bands homepage
