How come my PX5D sounds nothing like this ( I know it's a PX4D in the video, but it shouldn't make much of a difference )

Dude playing with PX4D

That sounds awesome, why is it that I can't get nothing similiar from my Px5d, the sound is so dull, and I know it's not because of my guitar. Is my Px5d broken or sum or is it that the Px4d is so much better huh.gif I'm so confused, I've tried to tease Muris with my stupid questions about how he gets his guitar sounds so good, and have so much distortion, I can't get nothing out of mine, and now this guy comes and plays with awesome sounding tones, nothing like what comes out of my shi**y little box... My fellow Px5d owner's, tell me what is wrong, is it broken???? sad.gif

Man, I noticed that all I've been doing in the forums lately is to bitch about something biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Well, still, help me smile.gif

Cheers

One thing everybody has to face is the fact that your tone does not only depend on your gear, a lot (and I mean A LOT) comes only from your fingers! If you play on somebody elses equipment you will still not sound like that person, simply because you are not this person, you way of picking is different, your vibrato is different, your phrasing is different, everything is different.

I couldn't agree more, fingers hold the sound, the gear amplifies it. I don't say the gear is not important because it is, but the main things that produce the sound are hands, and those micro-movements of one player can never be the same as others.

The PX5D is in good condition right? if so, try and fiddle around with it some more, I remember that I had to tinker my podXT alot the first time I tried using it to get a good sound smile.gif

Have you tried settings I gave you,
hint about the cable you should use to connect it to your PC?

Might be broken tho,who knows.
But test it more, each tone needs more extra tweaking
if you use different guitar etc. smile.gif

Seen other flicks of him, he's making clinics for Marshall along these other gear reviews.

don't know how he recorded the tone either, maybe miked up through an expensive PA with large speakers that adds a bit of cone fullness to the sound. As oppsed to direct into a PC or the sound you'd get in headphones. huh.gif

Yeah, I've tried your settings, but the sound is nothing like yours, and I do agree that most of the sound comes from your fingers, but in my case here I don't think that's the situation, I don't seem to get enough Gain, when for example I want to play some shreddy stuff... But I don't think it's broken tho.... What kind of cable do you use to connect it to straight to your soundcard????

I must admit that i'm not overly impressed with the tones my PX5d are producing....i have it hooked up via usb- and just about the only good tone i can get are based on the setting Muris shared- and it still doesn't sound quite so good.
I'll be reading this thread like crazy lol

Yeah, same here, but I can't get that thick sound, when f.e. he pulls a mega massive shred from his sleave, like in the rocking tune advanced lesson he makes that huge run which sounds super cool, but I don't have enough gain to play it that heavy or to get that "BIG" sound or whatever..... biggrin.gif

I find the only way to make my sound "big" is to copy and past the take in another track in my daw, and pan them left and right.

I actually usually go for 4 tracks for any one guitar part, 2 left, 2 right. Did you try this in your DAW ?

Every four months for whatever reason I HATE MY TONE. I literally cannot handle it any more. I've gone from a Mesa Boogie F50 four months later to a PodXt five months later to Guitar Rig - I'm back to my PodXT again...

Put the Pandora away for a while and try something new, when you come back to it - it will seem fresh again I promise.

No, I haven't tried it yet, but I certainly will, thanks for the tip smile.gif
