That's just pure ignorance, and it usually comes from people that listen to top 40 stuff like Hannah Montana. I actually feel bad that they are so closed minded when it comes to music. While they stick to what is popular I can enjoy some Evile, some SRV, and even some Bach. The metal genre is really interesting in that it has a large following of die hard fans, but is likely the most hated genre in the world. It's not hated because of the music, it's hated because the media and society drills it into people's heads that metal is bad, it's full of drug addicts and violent people. All fans of metal are delinquents and criminals...blah blah blah tell me, when you ask someone what kind of music they like, how often do you hear: "Anything but metal"? All fans of metal are delinquents and criminals...blah blah blah tell me, when you ask someone what kind of music they like, how often do you hear: "Anything but metal"? i agree with alot of this, except for the bottem statement, i hear anything but rap, or anything but contry alot more, since the whole emo/screamo scene started going more mainstream i see alot of people listening to "metal" Songs where there is the occasional scream people have started considering metal so i know lots of people who listen to Alexisonfire and call it metal but as soon as i put on some suffocation they look like they want to puke. more examples of "metal" would be Linken park(rap metal.. went mainstream became crapmetal) AfI-started screaming, ruined it by going emo, their first albums were awsome Alexisonfire-they just got popular i have no beef Atreyu- A7X- im not good at knowing these bands but the rock scene started going heavier and its making "metal" more listen to able, but when u really like the Br()()tol stuff and real metal like oldschool stuff you realise metal is a very generalized term now Im all for a brotherhood of metal a Secret Society of metalheads, we all need the same pendant or something, something that every metalhead carries to show that they are part of the society! Metal, no matter what genre it is, has an evil aura in it. Seriously, if any cannot take criticism from one of the most looked down genre in the history of music, then why even bother to listen to metal. Pentagram could relate to anything in Metal in general. Its not just satanism, or any of that stuff. Its a way for everyone to tell that you are part of this culture and being proud of it.
