It's a great investment to spend some time to practise common chords in music.
Recognization of chords makes the reading material very easy to read.

I highly reccomend you to sightread small classical pieces or some simple licks.
The more you read the more you be fluent in sighreading.
So aightread as much as you can.There is no miracle shortcuts your brain needs the practise.

Unless you are studying to play a piece or part don't sightread any material more than 3 times beacuse after that you are not sightreading any more you are playing by memory.
