I've seen a thread on this in the past. Too lazy to find it. ESP does make some pretty extreme custom guitars in the Japanese market.

Haha Muris needed that guitar at guitar idol 08 then he could kill the drummer with this sword, because he played soo bad:)

I know some metal bands using these extreme shapes like Manowar and Metallium. They are very good quality guitars.
